I love books! Any books! Well, I prefer young adult fiction! I love doing book reviews and talking about books! And I love helping people find the perfect book for themselves! On my blog, you can find book reviews, book hauls, and book recommendations. I may occasionally get a little excited and post a random little blurb! (I apologize in advance!) I'm a nerd, and I hope that you are too, otherwise you wouldn't be on this blog!

Guys....
We went to YallFest. Well my best friend was with me and we went to a panel with Kiera Cass in it! (We all know how much I love her!) Anyway, my friend stands up and screams, "KIERA CASS! Will you sign my book and take a picture with me?" Of course, I was telling her to sit down and all but Kiera agreed and we ended up meeting her and everything! I also stood in line and waited for Victoria Aveyard!Saturday, November 14, 2015

-Book related
-Originality
Entering Competition: Simply email the design to me at damikagirl29@gmail.com
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
YALL Fest
I know I keep writing about YALL Fest but I just can not
convey how excited I am to be going! However you may not exactly know what it
is. YALL Fest is possibly the largest YA festival in America. In the Heart of
the south, Charleston, South Carolina, (I live in SC, by the way!) some of the
most notable authors in YA come for the weekend and it is supposed to be really
awesome!
People like Kiera Cass, Victoria Aveyard, Susane Colasanti,
Brenden Reichs, Meg Cabot, Marissa Meyer and so many more are supposed to be
there. You can find a full list and other info here. There are also supposed to
be a bunch of presentations and fun, interesting stuff at every hour. Best
thing? Most of it is FREE!

Shatter Me Trilogy by Taherah Mafi
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice:
Be a weapon. Or be a warrior
Title: Shatter Me Trilogy
Author: Taherah Mafi
Publisher: Harper Collins
Genre: Dystopian Romance
So, this series has taken my heart by storm. I literally read it in almost one week. It was amazing. Like, I can't even. This book was filled with so many topics that had never even crossed my mind in life or whilst reading. In the three books, Shatter Me, Unravel Me, and Ignite Me, new characters, problems, and setting arise. I have never read anything like it.
Juliette's pain throughout the series almost made me want to cry but the fact that she transforms into a strong, dynamic, female character was so amazing. It was almost like The Selection meets Divergent, meets The Young Elites. Being a feminist, I love this. It makes me so much happier to read. I feel that more and more YA books are featuring strong female leads. (More books for me!)
This book also has so many, deep, thoughtful quotes. I was honestly questioning my purpose in life after reading some of Juliette's inner thoughts. Not to mentions the ever-changing plot throughout out the three books was also a breathe of fresh air. It made the reading so much more gripping, forcing me to never stop.
Like most of my favorite books, there was a romantic feature. (Obviously!) Though, I won't spoil anything. The steamy bits are not too vulgar, rather the emotional bond between Juliette and her lover is simply a work of art put into words.
One odd thing in this book is that certain sentences or words are scratched out. The idea is for Juliette to be changing her thought process or not liking the way she words things in her journal. The great thing about this is that as the books progress, these scratches become less and less. Once again, this reverts back to her growing strength as a strong lead.
As I said before, I absolutely love this book. I could go on and on about how much I have grown to love it! It just makes me so happy!
